(Cape Town) – South Africans never shy away from a challenge. This is particularly the case with the current YouTube phenomenon, #runningmanchallenge, which has seen the country’s airlines challenge one another to a hilarious dance-off – one which has SA doubled over in stitches.
Earlier this month (June 2016), low-cost airline Mango responded to the global airline #runningmanchallenge, and specifically to FlySafair’s call to dance.
But domestic carrier Airlink pipped them to the post and published their version of the #runningmanchallenge on May 30, filmed at Wonderboom National Airport. Check it out here:

Mango’s #runningmanchallenge also features CEO Nico Bezuidenhout as well as cameos by 702’s Aki Anastasiou, talent show judge and Afrikaans performer Bobby van Jaarsveld and television actress Zakeeya Patel.
The airline’s version of the #runningmanchallenge was filmed on the apron at Lanseria International Airport in Gauteng.
Here is FlySafair’s #runningmanchallenge:
The #runningmanchallenge was started by a couple of teens in the USA, who posted a video of themselves doing a synchronised dance to a specific song. The movement went viral after sports stars, policemen, firemen, companies and finally airlines got involved.
