BT Ngebs City muscles in on Mthatha fitness market

(Mthatha) – Shoppers and fitness fanatics are now able to break a sweat while running their daily errands, following the opening of a new gym at BT Ngebs City.

GOOD NEWS: Gym users flex their muscles in the weights section of the new Motion Fitness gym at BT Ngebs City, Mthatha.

The Motion Fitness Health Club, which also operates at BT Ngebs’ sister malls Mdantsane City and Hemingways Mall, aims to provide a complete health and fitness solution for the Mthatha community.

BT Ngebs City general manager Lolo Sabisa welcomed the inclusion of the gym in the centre’s service offering, saying that exercise and wellness were essential components of a healthy, long and happy life.

“This health club is for people of all ages and fitness levels and we hope it will add value to our shoppers’ lifestyle,” he said.

The gym is now fully equipped and fully operational after its official launch in February. It includes a cardio section with cycles, treadmills, rowers and steppers; a 10-station circuit training area; free weights area; indoor cycling (spinning) studio and 25m indoor heated swimming pool.

According to director Neil Strangleman, the health club will offer a range of group training classes, such as high impact, low impact and step aerobics, power boxing, dance classes, yoga and pilates.

“We have a range of classes from beginner to advanced, so members can choose the one most appropriate to their level. We also have high-intensity functional training, which helps to build the core muscles in the abdomen and lower back.”

Swimming lessons for adults and children were already gaining in popularity, he said, while aqua aerobics classes provided a less stressful exercise option for non-swimmers and people recovering from injuries and operations.

Gym members enjoy additional facilities such as changing rooms complete with sauna and steam room, and will soon be quench their post-workout thirst at the juice bar. They can also take advantage of expert advice from personal trainers as well as the on-site biokineticist or physiotherapist who will soon be joining the ranks.

Little Movers will keep the children entertained with interactive educational games in a supervised play area while their parents are busy working out.

The operating hours are 5am to 9pm Monday to Thursday and from 5am till 8pm on Friday. Over the weekend, the gym will be open from 7am daily, closing at 4pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.
