A determined young woman targets the Ironman 70.3 Durban to inspire an end to sexual abuse in SA

A motivated Philippa Dods takes aim at raising awareness towards the end of sexual abuse in SA.

Driven by the ambition to tackle injustice and end gender-based violence in South Africa, Philippa Dods will be at the start line of the Ironman 70.3 Durban 2019. She hopes to cross the finish line that day having raised R50 000 exclusively for Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust (RCCTT).

RCCTT supports the recovery of rape survivors by seeking legal justice and creating change in communities. The Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) supports communities by helping victims of rape, sexual abuse and sexual violence.

The funds are needed to assist them in providing services such as crisis hotlines, community outreach and education, and victim advocacy especially regarding flaws in the criminal justice system.

Ironman 70.3 is a world-renowned series of long-distance triathlon races. The “70.3” refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.
