WATCH | Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra plays our anthem from home

Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra

Members of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra are lifting the spirits of fans and keeping them entertained, despite the national lockdown.

Concert halls across the globe may be closed but the Cape Town Philharmonic is very much open for entertainment, using their social media feeds to post virtual concerts.

“Let our Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra musicians express this huge variety of emotions [that people experience] to help you cope,” says Bernhard Gueller in a Youtube Video.

Gueller is principal guest conductor of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

“Music will sustain us in the coronavirus disaster. Let music unite us spiritually.”

In the video, members of the orchestra are then seen playing the South African national anthem in baroque style, each from their lockdown locations at home.

The Cape Town Philharmonic has also been posting videos of members performing on its other social media pages, in honour of those who have died from the virus, their loved ones and every South African battling this crisis.
