On Monday, South Africans celebrated Freedom Day, albeit from the confines of our homes under Covid-19 lockdown regulations. However, a beautiful sight from across the globe warmed our hearts.

The Burj Khalifa in Dubai was lit up in the colours of the South African flag in celebration of Freedom Day. With a total height of 829.8 metres, the Burj Khalifa is one of the tallest buildings in the world.

This comes just days after South Africa’s flag illuminated the Matterhorn, a mountain in the Swiss Alps.
