Meet Lorenzo Anthony, a modern-day hero, who saved the day when a young man was held at gunpoint on a train in the city.
Earlier this month, Anthony saved Gareth Lundt from two armed robbers on the train. Robbers approached Lundt and asked him for his phone.
Anthony noticed something was wrong when he saw the young man at the door between the two carriages.
“He was basically in a difficult spot. It wasn’t going to come out good for him. That’s why I reacted.”
When he approached the men, Lundt told him that one man had a gun.
Anthony used his martial arts training to get the gun away from the assailants. He and Lundt performed a citizen’s arrest and took the attacker to a police station when they arrived at Cape Town central. The other robber got away.
Now in a bid to repay Anthony, Lundt has started a backabuddy page, to raise R10 000 for Anthony and his family.
Lundt says “Lorenzo could have stayed backed and done nothing and…let the assailants get away, however, he chose to help which I am thankful for.”
At present, the funds raised stand at R 9 218.42. If you’d like to contribute you can click the link below.
