Jokes aside, Trevor Noah makes history at Madison Square Garden

One of South Africa’s best entertainment exports, funny man Trevor Noah, proved his universal appeal yet again by becoming the first African comedian to lift the rafters with a sold-out performance at the famous Madison Square Garden, in New York, at the weekend.

Noah, who is wowing audiences on his Loud and Clear tour, performed to more than 20,000 people at the famous arena.

“Last night was incredible. Thank you to everyone WHO packed out [Madison Square Garden] and made it such a memorable night! I didn’t want it to end.”

Located in the bustling midtown Manhattan, Madison Square Garden has a seating capacity of 19,738, which includes 540 club seats and 89 luxury suites.

With his historic performance, Noah, who also hosts the widely popular The Daily Show, added his name to the list of nine comedians, including Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and Kevin Hart, who have sold out the world-class venue, TimesLive reported.
