Soshanguve entrepreneur launches “smartphone for the people”

Entrepreneur and Lemok Group CEO Lebogang Mokubela has released a new smartphone – touted as the first to be launched by a South African township based company.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mokubela – a serial entrepreneur – is on a mission to build the “BidVest” of the township.

His award-winning, township-based group of companies houses Libra, which is touted as the first smartphone brand by a township company. The phone is a 128gig smartphone which will retail at about R3,000.

Speaking to talk radio 702’s Joanne Joseph, Mokubela says the phone competes in the entry-level budget category but has high specifications but at entry-level prices.
