SA tourist landmark Table Mountain welcomes 29 millionth visitor

These holidays major SA tourist attraction Table Mountain welcomed its 29 millionth visitor!

As part of the commemoration of Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company’s 90th year of operations, one lucky couple got much more than they bargained for when they visited Table Mountain just before Christmas.

Pearl Shoba and Muzi Sibanyoni were patiently waiting their turn to travel up Table Mountain when staff members from Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) asked them to step out of the queue. The reason? Pearl and Muzi were recognized as the 29th million visitors to Table Mountain.

This was their first visit to Table Mountain together, and it turned out to be one to remember. TMACC spoiled them with the full VIP experience, giving them the chance to have a cablecar all to themselves as they travelled to the top, along with a basket of goodies to remember the special day.

TMACC is celebrating its 90th year of operations, notching up a million visits in less than a year (the 28-million visitor landmark was reached in January 2019).

To help beat some of the holiday rush and queues, the company has launched early-access tickets which allow visitors to take the first cable car up at 7.30am – before the site opens to the general public.

The limited tickets are only available for purchase online and are valid until 15 January 2020.
