MSC Cruises plans new R200-million terminal for Durban

South Africa’s largest cruise liner, MSC Cruises, is planning to build a R200-million cruise terminal in Durban, Business Insider reports.

“This multi-user terminal will make Durban an even more desirable destination for cruise ships from all over the world,” said Ross Volk, MD for MSC Cruises South Africa.

Cruises, he says, are increasingly becoming an appealing holiday choice for South Africans as they offer an affordable all-inclusive vacation.  Last year’s cruise season saw a 25% increase in guests compared to the same period in 2017/2018.

The new Durban Cruise Terminal is expected to be operational by January 2021 and will be built by the KwaZulu Cruise Terminal Consortium (KTC).
