Nurses Veronica Mogashoa, Mabu Sekhaolelo and Paulinah Mafatshe are the driving force behind the Wellness Today Private Clinic in Mamelodi. It’s the first black female-owned private clinic in the area, reported Women24.

Wellness Today opened on January 13 and the women pay for the running costs of the clinic themselves.

“We have very supportive children and we started buying one item at a time until we had enough equipment to open the clinic.”

The three saw a gap in the market and decided to fill it.
“…a lot of people in the community relapse due to spending hours standing in long queues at the local clinics and hospital just to get their medication.”

Treatment costs start at R30 and the clinic’s doors are open to everyone. Three doctors also visit the clinic when needed.
“Our prices are affordable and start from R30 to R150,” Paulinah says.
After knowing each other and working in the nursing field for a “very long time”, this was the next step in their plan, reported Pretoria East Rekord. Mafatshe says two out of the three women are due to retire from their jobs soon and one is already retired.
The clinic operates from Paulinah and her husband’s garage.
“We struggled so much to find premises, So I spoke to my husband… He was kind enough to give us two garages, but now we are still operating from one garage and we are hoping to expand soon.”
