South African actress and media darling Pearl Thusi stars in the lead role in new Netflix thriller Queen Sono, which is dropping on Friday.
Queen Sono is about a highly trained South African spy who takes on her most dangerous mission yet while facing changing relationships in her personal life.
Thusi previously also starred in Kalushi, which tells the story of Solomon Mhlangu, the Umkhonto we Sizwe hero convicted of murder and hanged in 1979.
On top of that she has also made the cover of the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine – respect!
Thusi faced a very personal attack on Twitter in 2019, when her success was attributed to her fair complexion, with one user saying she had no talent.
Her latest Instagram post seems to recognise all the struggles she’s faced including from haters who attributed her success to the colour of her skin.
The new series’ soundtrack is beautiful, with Sho Madjozi, Nadia Nekai and Black Motion all featured.
Thusi is no stranger to fame, having starred as the Warrior Princess of Nubia in Scorpion King alongside Zach Macgowan in 2017.
