Daniel, an award-winning modern country singer and songwriter, is “live” streaming concerts with the hashtag #coronaconcertsbloem via Facebook.
The objective? To unite musicians and raise funds for local artists during the lockdown. He came up with the idea for the concerts after a fundraiser before the lockdown kicked in.
The #coronaconcertsbloem ensures fellow musicians have an income while the community can enjoy concerts during the lockdown.
“I saw that all the artists were performing live with online ‘tip jars’ [and I] thought that would be useful.”

A platform to provide a helping hand
“People are always inspired by music in some ways,” Daniel says. “Some of these artists have no other income, which is why it was so important to me to create this platform to provide a helping hand.”
A total of five concerts are scheduled and the first one kicked off with Francois Bouwer and Tian Kussman on March 25.
Best New Artist Award
Daniel’s album Rule the World, released in 2019, earned him the Best New Artist award at the South African country music awards (SACMAF) in November that year. He was also named Best New International Artist at the Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards.
His next concert will take place on April 8 at 7pm. Visit his Facebook page @Daniel Wesley Africa or the Corona Concerts Bloem page to find out more about upcoming #coronaconcertsbloem. The banking details are on his page if you’d like to make a donation to help local artists.
